Adirondack 16'

A tandem touring canoe that has superb performance for its size. The Adirondack was designed for the smaller rivers and lakes like those of the Northeast. Meant for day outings and trips of a night or two, it only has medium volume, but paddles very efficiently with a light-to-moderate load. Canoe & Kayak Magazine tested it and said, "This is one smooth-paddling canoe, and it has excellent final stability. It's a bit less initially stable, but that's what gains the efficient paddling and glide."

The Adirondack travels more easily than our Fisherman, Kingfisher, Aurora, or Rogue but less so than our other tandem models. Among 16' canoes from all builders, however, the Adirondack is sleeker and has less rocker. These aspects make it a straight-tracking, easy-paddling canoe. A 16'-long hull, if very well designed, can be at the threshold of having good speed and glide in the absolute sense (rather than just compared to other 16' models), and this is definitely a performance-oriented canoe among medium-short designs.
